# Marches in the Los Altos Pet Parade

Sep 28, 2011

[![](https://blog.siliconvalleyinternational.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/IMG_7533-1024x768.jpg?width=640&height=480&name=IMG_7533-1024x768.jpg)](https://blog.siliconvalleyinternational.org/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/IMG_7533.jpg)Two dozen INTL'ers\* walked in the Los Altos Pet Parade for the first time on Saturday, September 24th. On this beautiful morning, several INTL families and their furry or feathered friends gathered in downtown Los Altos for the 64th Annual Pet Parade. The streets were only open to pets and their fans.

INTL was well-represented by families from both the [Chinese](http://www.istp.org/ChineseImmersion) and [French](http://www.istp.org/FrenchImmersion) programs, and children in [pre-school](http://www.istp.org/EarlyYears) and Elementary through [Middle School](http://www.istp.org/MiddleSchool).

On our casual stroll through town, we were in good company. The Los Altos High School marching band entertained us; the Chief of Police brought his dog, too. While we watched some "hot dogs" trot about, we even saw a unicorn!

The best part was that at the Parade, some of us had met for the very first time. A good time was had by all, and we're looking forward to next year! Hope you can join us!

\*In 2020, the International School of the Peninsula (ISTP) formally changed its name to Silicon Valley International School (INTL) to better reflect its bilingual programs, location, and international values.
