In 2011, the Silicon Valley International School* partnered with the world renowned Khan Academy, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing a free, world class education for anyone, anywhere. Their resources include:
1) An extensive video library of over 3,200 videos covering numerous subjects such as biology, art history, studying for the GMAT, finance and computer science, and more
2) Over 340 math exercises, ranging from arithmetic to calculus
3) A rich data dashboard for students and teachers. INTL has worked with Khan Academy to help create and translate math concepts from English to French, adapting it to the French curriculum.
Now, INTL is proud to welcome Khan Academy's Summer Discovery Lab to our Palo Alto Cohn Campus! This Summer 2012 program for middle school students uses project-based learning for math, science, and economics, and will utilize innovative ways to integrate technology into the hands-on learning experience. The mission of the Discovery Lab goes hand-in-hand with INTL's mission and core values.
Each Discovery Lab session is two-weeks long and runs at the same time as INTL's regular language immersion summer camp. More information can be found on the Khan Academy Discovery Lab website.
*In 2020, the International School of the Peninsula (ISTP) formally changed its name to Silicon Valley International School (INTL) to better reflect its bilingual programs, location, and international values.
