We are very proud to announce that the Silicon Valley International School* has been authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).
INTL* joins a network of outstanding schools across the globe that offer the IB curriculum, which challenges students to inquire into the world around them to become engaged, caring, lifelong learners. The PYP curriculum perfectly supports and enhances our school's mission to educate students through a rigorous bilingual program that inspires them to become culturally-fluent, innovative young people.
Head of School Philippe Dietz reflects, “Transitioning the school to become an IB PYP school has been a great experience for all of us. Thanks to our faculty and staff’s extraordinary work, this process has been one of learning, thinking and reflecting on our pedagogical practices. Our children have benefited tremendously from this new pedagogical approach, and I have been amazed by their ability to collaborate and their fine understanding of the learner profile’s attributes.”
Assistant Head of School Kate Lussen adds, “The process of becoming a PYP school has been truly transformative for faculty, staff, and students. The amount of dialogue, collaboration, and reflection from teachers and students alike has been impressive and led to an even stronger sense of community, learning, and deep understanding of one another and the world around us. We are indeed one step closer to ‘a better and more peaceful world.’”
As members of the IB network of schools, we also join an incredible community of passionate educators around the world, with access to the best professional development opportunities for our teachers. Moving forward, INTL will continue to pursue our MYP (Middle Years Programme) authorization, extending IB learning through the 8th grade.
*In 2020, the Silicon Valley International School (ISTP) formally changed its name to Silicon Valley International School (INTL) to better reflect its bilingual programs, location, and international values.
